Congrats man, that's awesome! My wife and I had our first almost a year ago.
There is, quite simply, nothing else like it. Simultaneously the most amazing and terrifying thing you'll ever do.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 20:47 |

Congrats. It's the best.
Your life will be changed forever.

most fun you will ever have. Also, remember that you can still have fun cars and kids at the same time.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 20:54 |

Congrats, I have a 13 month old and another on the way in March. My little dude is hilarious and keeps me laughing non-stop. He says "brrrrrm brrrrrm" whenever he sees cars, which fills me with joy. And, there is literally nothing better in the world than a hug or a kiss from your kid after a bad day, or hell, on any kind of day.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 20:55 |

Congratulations! Your life will be changed forever...........in a good way!
![]() 01/28/2015 at 20:57 |

I can imagine. We tried for 6 months and that felt like forever.
I hate to say it, but some days having sex felt like work!

Father of two here....listen up! Get your sleep! You will not be getting any for the first few years after the little one comes along. Congrats!
![]() 01/28/2015 at 20:59 |

Say goodbye to any car-related aspirations for the next 15-20 years....
Just kidding, congrats on ze baby!
![]() 01/28/2015 at 21:01 |

It definitely is work sometimes. The funny part is that we were barely "active" last month. (I think we did it twice) and for some reason BAM it worked.
We had tried everything else previously. everyday, every second day, every third day, once a week. and nothing worked
![]() 01/28/2015 at 21:02 |

Congrats!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Pros
You get to have a Legacy (no, the other one)
Upfront costs are nothing but time and energy
Payoff is immediate
Maintenance gets cheaper over time; eventually kids become self sufficient
Someone to take care of you when you get old
Cons
Kids are the consequence and not the cause of getting laid
The cars you'll need to get to take care of your expanding family will be universally lame
During the first 1-5 years your life is basically over
Might grow up to be the next hitler. Don't laugh, it could happen...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Pros
Getting laid is way easier...
...But if you don't want to get laid, the noise at top RPM will probably cause you to orgasm anyway
You get to be a Porsche owner. They are gods among mortals, according to other Porsche owners
You can park at the ski resort in Aspen without being asked to move your car
Everywhere you drive is more fun
Cons
Your financial life is basically over
Law enforcement will be around every corner to kill your buzz
The people you lay will be doing it for the money and won't actually care about you
The people who do love you for you will ask you to choose them or the car (jealousy is a cruel mistress, bro)
Payoff comes after 18 years of saving up, during which time you'll only be able to afford a used Legacy (yes, that one)

I can imagine. I'm extremely looking forward to it. This kid will love Lincolns I'll make sure of it!

Long time sufferer of insomnia I haven't had a good night sleep in years. I guess that might be a good thing now.
Besides sleep is overrated

And I still need to get myself a scooter/moped thanks to you.

sums it up pretty good. All but the boring car thing. I have no intentions of getting a minivan for one kid. My brother and I got around just fine in the back of a 1988 VW Jetta.
This seems like a perfectly reasonable family car.

Hey now, don't force makes and models on your children, if they love Yugos you just have to accept it.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 21:24 |

Suuuuuure about that?
Kid's gonna turn into a teen sooner than later, and that teen's gonna need someone to hand-me-down them a car. You wanna trust him/her with 700HP in their first car? Dooo ya?

He will be a Cadillac fan and it will drive you insane when he's rolling around in an Eldo! :)
![]() 01/28/2015 at 21:35 |
|
Cadillacs are ok but only second best to Lincolns. I'd still have to love him I'd just be making fun of him a whole lot for driving a caddy.
But honestly if he can learn to appreciate land barges he is ok in my book.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 21:36 |

That's all that counts really!
![]() 01/28/2015 at 21:37 |

Have car, three kids can confirm.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 21:39 |
|
He/she will have to do the same thing I did and save up and buy their first car if they want to drive. My first car was a $400 Chevette. Ain't no way they are driving my car, they can drive mom's car if they have too. I remember what I was like as a teen after watching fast & furious and it's not gonna happen. I'm suprised I never killed myself to be honest.

Enjoy your sleep for the next eight or so months. Not even joking.

Luc, that is very exciting!
For me, it wasn't really real until I saw the top of her head coming out.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 22:06 |

If I have my way it will happen. But things never seem to go how I want it.
Can't wait to buy him/her a cozy coupe the get them started.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 22:07 |
|
Congratulations, 2 years eh, practice makes perfect.
One free tip; After the first ten spoiled nappies, diapers, crap sacks, etc It gets easier to deal with. Even though a face mask with Carbon filters will eliminate the stench don't use one, small children don't find them appealing, especially if you wear Mickey Mouse ears.
All the best, enjoy parenthood. The time passes very fast from now on.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 22:07 |

Same here I still don't truly believe it. Once I see the baby bump then it might become more real.
![]() 01/28/2015 at 22:08 |

Cozy coupe is a great starting point. You can do it. We believe in you! haha

If you tried for that long, you can probably relate to this story. My wife and I had a miscarriage with our first attempt, and were having trouble conceiving on the second try. Shots, calendars, sperm counts, the whole thing. She would get the shot, and then we had a certain window of time to get busy, as often as possible. Let me tell you, 6:00 am was a lot easier when I was 20 than when I was 34. But those times you're also on the clock, on the calendar, under pressure. It never worked. Then one night, one of our cats got out of the apartment and went missing. We searched and searched. And that was supposed to be THE night that we needed to, er, do it. But we didn't. We figured we had missed our window once again. But we gave it a go the next day anyway, and that was the time we conceived. When the pressure was off. And, we found the cat.
So, congratulations! Enjoy the ride. And don't wait too long for the next one. We wanted to have two kids, and instead we got two more. Yup, twins. Now we have three boys. And they're kicking our ass. All I can say is that every day is a new challenge, and it never really gets easier. It just gets different.
Bonne chance! Or perhaps, bon courage!
![]() 01/29/2015 at 00:42 |
|
Like mentioned before, it's the best thing and terrifying at the same time.
Trust me the next 2 years will suck. But once it's a toddler and playing with toy cars it's not so bad.
I look at my kids in amazement sometimes.
You should get you a shirt like this for the big day.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 02:30 |

congrats , due date?
![]() 01/29/2015 at 03:04 |

That story is hilarious haha well done.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 03:25 |

Sincere congratulations! Up at 0115 to ensure my 2 year old sleeps through the latest cough/cold/whatever this winter without waking my wife, the almighty "Mommy". We waited 'til the doorstep of 40 to have one, and only one, for many good reasons. It was a great decision. I hope you have all the joy you both rightfully expect, and more. I hope it all goes without complication. I hope you lay in a good stock of coffee, and perhaps adult beverages. I hope you smartly ignore the copious bad advice of others. I hope fortune smiles on you, your family, and friends.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 06:17 |

Congratulations!!! May your new family be as happy as this duckling
![]() 01/29/2015 at 06:46 |

Congrats!!! There's nothing like it!
And yes enjoy your sleep while you can, but all that sleep deprivation is totally worth it.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 08:44 |

The "trying" ain't so bad itself... Very happy for you two! Keep in mind that your wife will be, quite literally, out of her mind at times in the next year or so, so be patient and caring, and go buy her whatever the hell she wants at 2:00 in the morning.
Every once in a while, I give my wife a "day of rest". I tell her the night before that the kids are all mine that night and the next morning, and she can stay in bed in our room as long as she wants. Keep this one in your back pocket and pull it out from time to time. Trust me, she will be very grateful.
Here's our crew (in the back of Daddy's Rocket Sled):
![]() 01/29/2015 at 09:41 |
|
Nice! We did the same thing sperm counts and the works and your right, now at 30 years old if she tried to wake me up in the middle of the night for some action I would probably punch her.
"oh you want some action? let me pencil you in. my next available time is tomorrow at 8pm does that work for you?"
good advice tho I appreciate it.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 09:44 |
|
DUUUUUUDE AWESOME!!!!!!!
![]() 01/29/2015 at 09:51 |
|
Great advice! She's already crazy enough as it is so I can't imagine it will get any better in a year or so.
That's a good lookin' family what do you use as daddy's rocket sled?
I have a 2013 Fusion and have no intention of giving it up for a minivan. I never understood why someone would get a minivan for their first baby. If you had 3 like you then maybe but for 1 no fucking way.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 09:59 |
|
luckily I drink hard liquor so I find it quite affordable. I'm good for weeks for $25 bucks. I'm turning 30 in 3 weeks and my wife is 32. I did not want to wait much longer, I already barely have any energy I can't imagine I would have more in 10 years.
I hear you on the bad advice part. Just trying to make the baby was filled with weird bad advice. "No I will not eat a raw Sea Urchin if I want to get pregnant" WTF?
![]() 01/29/2015 at 10:00 |

Congrats, man! That's awesome!
![]() 01/29/2015 at 10:00 |

Ha! Well, just always keep in mind the beautiful baby she gave you... Thanks - they're a lot of fun (8, 6 and 2 now). Here's my family truckster. =)

![]() 01/29/2015 at 10:08 |

just means you get to earn many brownie points by being the one to get up and grab the crying child. grab said child, sit on one of them giant yoga balls and watch old episodes of top gear whilst bouncing child back to sleep. its win win win, partial loss (tired)
![]() 01/29/2015 at 10:11 |

LOL :]
![]() 01/29/2015 at 10:14 |

Hahaha! Thanks - I can't think of anything else (with 4 doors) that I'd rather have... It's such a joy to drive, and yet so functional. 5 - count 'em - FIVE seatbelts. And a decent trunk. I tell people I bought a used family sedan. Love this car.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 10:18 |

I do have every single episode so far. Eventually I hope to read him "car books"(autotrader classifieds) like my granddad did with me.

![]() 01/29/2015 at 14:37 |

because GT3 cup car
![]() 01/29/2015 at 14:42 |
|
Beater Porsche converted to race car is better anyways. The GT3 Cup Car would be terrible. You know why?
Because it would be embarrassing to take it to the track and get beat by a better driver in a lesser car. But if you have beater race car then it's never your skills that's the issue, it's the shitty car.
![]() 01/29/2015 at 14:43 |

This is why the Fiesta is such a good track car.
If I'm faster than literally anyone else, I'm a hero.
